trick-or-treating

This was Lillian's first time on the adventure of trick-or-treating. Too bad she couldn't reap the rewards- I'm sure she'll get her fill next year. We just had to show her off to our neighbors!
Who could resist this big garden gnome and darling little flower?

monster mash 2011

On the way to this year's party, one had to pass skulls in the dirt, meet a creepy butler, and cross underneath one huge spider. But it was all worth it for one of my favorite nights of the year.

THE COSTUMES
what?? no candy for me??
now if only our little garden party could be headed somewhere tropical, like the Travelocity gnome
Best Costume Award went to the Walker Family. A well-deserved win for their take on some classic Halloween characters. Scary, yet oh so cute.
He started with 2 wings and 2 bat ears....
The King and Queen in charge of it all, quite the royalty.
Jeff just can't give up the face paint; I secretly hope he never does.

THE GAMES
I don't think Chad has even taken a donut so seriously.

THE FOOD
Thank you to the King and Queen for another great year, another spooky party.

trick or treat

This is what you'll find when you come knocking at our door tonight. What would you pick?

And this is who you'll find standing inside.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Monster Mash

Looks like Dracula himself decided to throw a party, with the help of his witchy wife, of course. Let the cosume parade begin!

the gypsy from Transylvania

Life really is a circus with the Walkers

I don't know how that little mermaid survives the spookiness around her!

You would think Mario would bring his go-kart.... and interesting how Jeff just happened to have all the ingredients for a nerd costume....

Practicing for next year's event... turkey legs on a string!

If you like it then you should've put a ring on it... oh oh oh

I wonder if the ladybug is Team Edward or Team Jacob

Prizes to suit all your Halloween wishes, from glow stick wands and stretchy spiders to grow-your-own skeletons. It's like a Hogsmeade store!

pumpkin boogie

Our Annual Pumpkin Carving Party was a huge success- thank you to Chelsea and Mark for hosting the event this year. Lizzie introduced me to the trick of using a jar lid to scrape out the guts- brilliant! Dave's pumpkin took on a cartoon-ish complexion, and I'm not sure if mine is shreiking or yawning. Either way, these are the faces greeting our trick-or-treaters this Halloween.

Our friend Siqi carved this all too pretty jack-o-lantern... not too shabby for a first-timer, eh? I love the smiling eyes.

WHOO can resist pumpkin carving? not I!

who likes to party?

Dave and I just hiked in for the occasion, fresh from Camp Tomahawk. "On my honor..."

The guests ranged from an "Enchanting" Princess, Little Red Riding Hood, and a Skeleton to the Incredible Hulk, Spiderman, and a very scary Witch.

Who can resist Minnie Mouse?

This flower and bumblebee pair was as darling as ever. Now where is their Beekeeper counterpart?

I give them the prize for most clever- crossword puzzles! Now let me get my pencil...

Jeff never disappoints, always showing up in his non-PC skin color of choice. I'm sure Ronnie Price will forgive him.

Why didn't the skeleton come to the Halloween party?

Because he had no BODY to come with!!! hahaha

Thanks again to R&R for a frightfully fabulous party- it's one of our very favorite parts of Halloween. We missed Dad, but he needed his rest and we're glad he's feeling better. Congrats to Richard for winning the Best Costume Award as the Incredible Hulk!

DOTS

Are these not the coolest things you've ever seen? Alana introduced me to the Candy Corn edition, and to my pleasant surprise I found the Ghost and Bat varieties as well! Not only are they cute, they are chewy-gummy-sweet-deliciousness all wrapped up in one. The ghosts are fruit flavored, and the bats are a tasty, yet Halloween-inspired "blood orange." I subscribe to the belief that seasonal candy always tastes better, because it's been made fresh for the occasion. And these Dots haven't let me down. All for only 88 cents a box? It's a new Halloween must-have at my house.

Front Porch Pumpkins

I don't know who came up with the idea to carve pumpkins, but they were pure genius! This fun and creative tradition is one of my favorites during Halloween, and I look forward to it every year. Dave and I decided to stray away from the traditional jack-o-lantern face this time around, but the question is: can you guess who carved which pumpkin?

Monster Mash 2008

The annual Halloween party at the Sorensen's haunted house always proves to be frighteningly fun. Dressing up is a must for young and old alike. Every year I look forward to the delicious food, fun games, festive prizes, and graveyard cake. But my favorite part is seeing everyone in their costumes, all decked out for this once-a-year occasion.
The Hostess and Host, almost unrecognizable!

Some were all about the politics...

And others were politically incorrect... at least his wife had some saving grace.

This chick will make you think twice before you eat chicken again!

I'm not sure if they're dressed up as vacationers or as Lori and Cody...

The favorite family pets. I guess these are Sarah and Tyler's true pet names for each other!

Tell that gorilla to watch out, Indiana Jones just might rope him in!

Marcie amazingly won the jelly bean guessing contest, despite any professional training or experience with numbers! And the title for Best Costume went to John McCain and Sarah Palin; it must have been a Republican crowd. Hats off to Russ and Rosemary for all the time and effort they put into this each year; they have successfully thrown another great ghoulish gala.
